Ira Gardner

Ira W. Gardner Sr. passed away on March 30, 2023. Ira was born in Spokane, WA, to Ray and Frances Gardner on March 3, 1939. Ira graduated from Rogers High School in 1957. He completed a degree in Industrial Technology at Eastern Washington State College and began a teaching career at Hudson Bay High School in Vancouver, Washington, before moving to San Pedro, California, where he met his wife Nancy in 1968 and started a family. Ira spent six years in the Air National Guard where he earned the rank of Sergeant. While teaching in Long Beach California Ira developed a love of photography and became a full-time professional photographer and camera repair technician in Los Angeles for 14 years. Ira moved back to Spokane in 1979 and returned to school where he earned a Master's in Education at EWU and began teaching again. He was a beloved teacher at Ferris High School for 22 years who will be remembered for his love of students and sense of humor. Ira leaves behind his loving wife, Nancy; their son, Ira Gardner Jr.; and wife, Sarah; grandson, Ian Gardner; and wife, Breanna; and great-grandson, Ryker Gardner.
