Carney Holman - Class Of 1973 VIEW PROFILE

Aloving son and brother Carney Holman passed away October 31, 2021, at his home in the Spokane Valley. Born August 30, 1955, to (the late) Arnold "Skip" and Etta "Babe" Holman. Carney was a lifelong Spokane resident. He attended Sheridan, Libby, and Ferris High School graduating in 1973.

He started working in the family business, Holman Drilling Corporation as a teenager; first cleaning equipment, working as a deckhand, and becoming a licensed driller. He drilled wells for geothermal, irrigation, and municipal use throughout the northwest and as far away as Nevada.

Carney loved to make things go faster, starting with his bicycle, skateboard, or homemade go-cart. Growing up at the family lake cabin on Coeur d' Alene Lake he developed a passion for boats, spending as many summer days as he could on the water.

Carney was a self-taught mechanic, working on boats and restoring hit-and-miss engines. He loved increasing an engine's performance, helping them go just a little faster, and always keeping everything in showroom condition.

Carney was a loyal friend as noted by all his longtime friendships and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his sister Holly Holman of Medical Lake and his girlfriend Lisa Schafer of Spokane Valley. A memorial will be held at the Longhorn BBQ on Argonne Rd. on April 8 at 1 pm. Memorial contributions can be made in Carney's name to Hutton Settlement, 422 West Riverside Avenue, Suite 931, Spokane, WA. 99201-0302.
