Melissa Busch - Class Of 2010 VIEW PROFILE

Melissa Elizabeth Busch (Mo) died on October 30, 2022. She was 30 years old and a lifetime resident of Spokane. Found in her home, her death was accidental.

Melissa was born in a small apartment in downtown Spokane on January 30, 1992, to her birthparents, Tom and Suzanne. They had created a loving adoption plan for her. Parents Steve and Sheila Busch and five-year-old Jack were honored and thrilled to be the chosen family for Melissa.

Melissa would tell you she had a wonderful childhood growing up on a cul-de-sac with 23 neighborhood children rollerblading, chalk painting, and swimming every summer day. She attended All Saints School where she learned to help others, write well, and became a lifelong reader. She attended Gonzaga Prep for several years, playing soccer as a fierce defender, before transferring to Ferris High School for her senior year.

Melissa was introverted, sensitive and loved her quiet time. She was a very good listener. Melissa began experiencing anxiety and depression in her teen years. She was encouraged by family, professionals, teachers, and loyal friends to lead her best life. She had a loving confidant in her cousin, Annie. Her sister, Katie, was her biggest fan.

It was a tremendous achievement for Melissa to graduate from Eastern Washington University with a degree in psychology and a minor in criminology. She worked as an employment specialist finding jobs for and coaching those with special needs.

Melissa liked watching Forensic Files and had seen every episode. She had many happy times at the family cabin, often swimming in the cool choppy water of Windy Bay, Lake Coeur D'Alene. She loved "jamming" in her trusted Subaru with its very loud sound system. Melissa treasured and helped train all our family dogs: Cooper, Kona, and Mack. We will miss her laughter as the dogs open their own gifts this Christmas.

Melissa is survived by her parents, Steve and Sheila Busch; her brother, Jack; and her sister, Katie. Her surviving, devoted grandparents are Karen Fosburg and Ed and Carol Bounds. We will all miss her very much as will her friends and large extended family. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Tom and Helen Busch and Bud Fosburg.

A memorial service will be held in the spring or summer of 2023. We appreciate the care given to us by PNW Cremation South.
