HENRICKSON, Kathleen (Age 63) Kathleen passed away August 22, 2014. She was born on August 17, 1951 to Eldon Eik and Alice Sellers-Eik in Spokane, where she lived her entire life. She attended Ferris High School and received her nursing degree from Spokane Community College. After graduating she began her career as a public health nurse at the Spokane Regional Health Dept., where she remained employed for 33 years. After retiring from the Health Dept., she began working for Planned Parenthood of Spokane for three plus years until she was diagnosed with ALS. Kathleen was a committed and compassionate nurse who was admired by many. She was also a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Kathleen would do anything for anyone. She was a long time member of Bethany Presbyterian Church where she had many friends. Kathleen was survived by her mother, Alice Eik; brothers, Ed and Larry Eik; Larry Eik's longtime companion Karen Soenke; daughters, Karalee Carr and Kaylene Elam; son, Kevin Henrickson; son-in-laws, Tyler Carr and Mike Elam; nephew, Brian Eik; and grandchildren, Madison, Hayden and Tamryn Carr and Lilly and Brandon Elam. Kathleen was preceded in death by her father, Eldon Eik; her brother, Michael Eik; and her nephew, Brandon Eik. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, a collection of money and new children's clothing or shoes will be taken at Kathleen's memorial to be donated to Sally's House for emergency foster care. Sally's House was a favorite charity of Kathleen's. Donations can also dropped or mailed in Kathleen's name. Sally's House, 222 E Indiana Ave, Spokane, WA 99207.
