Jan Stevens (Marshall) - Class Of 1972 VIEW PROFILE

(Age 61) Lifelong Spokane resident Jan N. Marshall lost her battle with cancer January 4. She was 61. Jan was born April 2, 1954, the daughter of William and Bonnie Stevens. She attended Franklin Elementary, Sacajawea Jr. High School, Ferris High School and Whitworth College. In 1978, she married James “Jim” Marshall and they raised their son, David, who was born in 1981. Jan had a deep love of music. She began playing violin as a child. Jan played in the Spokane Junior Symphony and All-State Orchestra, and later studied music at Whitworth. She also played with the Whitworth and Gonzaga community orchestras. Jan sang with church choirs at Northwood, Manito and Hamblen Park Presbyterian churches, and with the HPPC Celestial Singers. She also played hand bells for various churches and Decolors. In the early 1980s, she and Jim built their own home in Spokane. She enjoyed reading and loved to travel and camp. Jan taught toll-painting classes at Columbia Cycle and Hobby. She was also an avid quilter, worked at the Buggy Barn Quilt Shop and was a part of the quilt group Stashbashers. She served as a deacon with Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church as well. Jan is survived by her husband, Jim; her son, David (Heather); and her sisters Kathleen Stevens, Annie Stevens and Sue Faulkner (Mark). A memorial service will be held at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church, 4102 S. Crestline Spokane, WA 99203 at 2:00 on January 30, 2016.
