William Henry Brakel - Class Of 1968 VIEW PROFILE

Brakel, William Henry Spokane, WA William Henry Brakel, 53, died alone sometime in January. As a child and early adolescent, William was pleasant, easy- going, and humorous. Use of hallucinogens and ampheta mines may have precipitated and exacerbated his schizo phrenia, which dogged him for the rest of his life. He was never able to hold a job for over a month. He lived on his Social Security stipend, odd jobs, and money from his family. Over the last 30 years Willy's old sense of humor and sweetness of character would occasionally emerge, but his moments of joy were very few. He is survived by his father, mother, brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Linda Brakel of Ann Arbor, and his sisters Elizabeth and Christine Brakel. Should anyone wish to acknowledge his sad life, they may make donations in his name to the National Institute of Mental Health or National Alliance for Mental Illness
