Richard Louis Bingham - Class Of 1968 VIEW PROFILE

BINGHAM, Richard Lewis "Dick" May 2, 1950- March 6, 2021 Passed away from complications of a long struggle with COPD. Dick was born in Spokane, the younger son of Patty and Welly Bingham. He grew up on the south side of Spokane, attending Ferris High school then on to Western Washington U and the University of Washington. After college, he spent time travelling through Europe on motorcycles with his buddies. Settling down, his professional life included working in sales and advertising with KZAM Radio in Bellevue, eventually returning to his home town of Spokane working at KXLY Radio and Plese Realty. Throughout his life he was above all a golfer, sporting as low as a +3 handicap. He began playing at Manito and Hayden Lake Golf Clubs where the family were members. Later he joined the Spokane Country Club where he served as President and was an unprecedented 11 time Club Champion. He also won the Washington State Seniors title among his many tournament wins including being chosen to play in the Hudson Cup. A perennial bachelor, he was married for a very short time later in life having no children but was very close to his family. He and brother Dave Bingham enjoyed many golf outings together including the Priest Lake Invitationals with David's son Chris and business partner Butch Bockmier, and member/guest tournaments at Hayden Lake with cousin Stan Kohls. Other highlights included annual golf trips with his friends to Kokanee Springs Canada in the summer and Phoenix, Arizona in the winter. Many thanks to some of his best friends including next door neighbors and golf buddies Gene Teigen and his wife Yvonne who helped him immensely in his struggle at the end. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Candice Hooban, and his nephew Scott Bingham. He is survived by his brother David, his wife Shari and their son Chris, his wife Cherish, and their children Race and Baylie, nephew Scotts wife Kelly and son Beau, all of Bellevue, WA as well as sister Candice's son Richard Hooban of New York. Dick was a wonderful and kind hearted soul who had many friends and enjoyed life, his Dogs, the outdoors, skiing, golfing, more golfing, boating, and Peanut Butter. He has gone to a much better place and will be sorely missed. Dick requested no services but wanted his ashes to be spread amongst his special places. Donations in Dick's memory may be made to firstteeinlandnw.org Introducing golf to young people.
