With deep regret and heaviest of hearts, IAFF Local 1604 Bellevue and the Washington State Council of Fire Fighters report the sudden and unexpected passing of Jeffrey L. Byrd on October 31, 2022.

Jeff was hired by the Bellevue Fire Department in January of 1989, serving the community with pride, integrity and passion every single day until his retirement in June of 2018. But his service didn’t stop there. Although he no longer donned the uniform, he continued to play an active role in Local 1604, functioning as a member ‘at large’ until his passing.

Jeff had an incredible and contagious smile that put everyone he met at ease. He was a genuine and kind-hearted person who didn’t hesitate to share his knowledge and passion with young firefighters coming up the ranks.

Jeff is deeply loved and will never be forgotten. Memorial information will be provided as soon as it is available.  Please keep Jeff’s family and fire service brothers and sisters in your thoughts and prayers.
