Mary Hammond (Zinke) - Class Of 1969

HAMMOND, Mary Lou (Age 62) Passed away on October 14, 2013 in Spokane. Mary Lou was born in Spokane to Paul and Ruth Hammond on March 13, 1951. She was a member of the first freshman class at Ferris High School, graduating in 1969. After high school she attended Whitworth College and finished a BA in Mathematics in 1973, earning the President's Cup for her academic performance. She married Robert Zinke in 1973 and later moved to New Jersey where she continued her education at Fairleigh Dickinson University, receiving a Master's degree in Learning Disabilities in 1979. Mary Lou returned to Spokane in 1986 where she spent the last 26 years as a math instructor at Spokane Community College. Mary is survived by her son, Matthew Zinke of Spokane, daughter, Christa Zinke of Seattle, WA, brothers, Ned and his wife Mary Ann Hammond of Spokane, and Stuart Hammond of Cheney, WA. She was preceded in death by a brother Steven Hammond. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 PM, November 2, 2013 at Manito Presbyterian Church, 401 E. 30th Ave, Spokane, WA . The family asks that in Lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Girl Scout Camp Four Echoes, 1404 N. Ash, Spokane, WA Arrangements have been entrusted to Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, Spokane, WA.
