Ralph Thomas Dahman - Class Of 1968 VIEW PROFILE

A Celebration of life service and reception for Mr. Ralph Thomas Dahman will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, Spokane, Washington. Following the ceremony at 6:00 p.m. Ralph's ashes will be spread at CowTown, friends and family are welcome to attend as we wish him "happy trails." Ralph Thomas Dahman beloved companion, father, grandfather "Pappy", uncle, and long-time Sherriff of CowTown, went peacefully on Wednesday, August 3, 2016... nine days before his 66th birthday. "With what strife and pains we come into the world we know not, but 'tis commonly no easy matter to get out of it." He was born on August 12, 1950 in Spokane, Washington to Harold Joel Dahman and Vetta Alvira (Mix) Dahman. He spent the majority of his life in Spokane where he graduated from Ferris High School in 1968 before he served, honorably, in the United States Marine Corps as an Artillery's Marine. Following the Marine Corps, he continued his education at Spokane Falls Community College which fed his need for creativity. Always a dreamer and creative thinker he frequently saw possibilities and ventures where others did not...He was a Real Estate Investor, Property Manager, Creative Designer, Entrepreneur, Maytag Repairman, Inventor, Teacher, Visionary, Pilot, Wine Maker, and habitual out-of-box thinker. He was an avid wearer of 'Chuck Taylors' and 'Levis', belonged to the Spokane Business Builders Group and was a long time supporter and season ticket holder of the Spokane Indians. His dry, but loving, sense of humor will be missed as he passes down the Dahman name to his son, Justin, and grandson, Copeland. His crowning achievement, CowTown, was a late 19th Century old west town to be used as an event center, his retirement home and vineyard. With the help of his "Friends of CowTown" he witnessed it come to life, and he will now lie to rest on its 'Boot Hill.' Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Vetta. Left to cherish his memory and tell many, some unbelievable, "Raf" and "Pappy" stories will be his long time companion and caretaker, Debbie Taggart; sister, Jolene and husband Antoine Treadaway; daughter, Niki Cahill and husband Jeff; son, Justin Dahman and wife Jessica; four grandchildren, Owen and Sloane Cahill, Camdyn and Copeland Dahman, as well as loving nieces, Tara Collins and Kayla Bigelow. "I've heard it said that ol' cowboys don't die: They get put out to pasture way up in the sky." Many thanks to the care givers, hospital and hospice staff, social workers, friends, and all those who supported Ralph as he tirelessly waged war on cancer. With your encouragement he beat the odds on many occasions and lived to see his dream and vision of CowTown become a reality-RIP Ralph. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Spokane or National Brain Tumor Society. "Head 'em up, move 'em out!"
