Steven Davenport - Class Of 2014 VIEW PROFILE

DAVENPORT, Steven Charles Steven Charles Davenport, 19, passed away peacefully Monday evening, May 19, 2014, from complications related to Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He spent the past decade confined to a wheelchair, but never let that lessen his zest for life and adventure. Steven was born in Spokane, Wash., to Jacqueline Davenport (Van Allen) and Steve Davenport. He attended Jefferson Elementary and Ferris High School, and was awarded an honorary diploma the day of his passing. He received numerous other commendations throughout his school years, including Spokane School District 81's "Most Improved Award" on May 16, 2014. He was widely known for his impeccable manners, unflagging enthusiasm and silly jokes. Steven loved movies and music, especially hits from the 1970's. He was especially fond of the movie "Anchorman" and its fictional star, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell). He enjoyed riding STA buses with his much loved caregiver, Cathy Hart-Kelly, and participating in the school district's Special Athletes Program. He loved making videos on his computer, recording his daily activities in a video log. The family would like to thank the Spokane School District for providing an excellent learning environment, and Sacred Heart's medical staff for their compassion while caring for Steven during his final days. Steven is survived by his parents; stepmother Kerri Davenport and stepfather Michael Guilfoil; grandparents Chuck and Glenda Davenport, Loretta Ryals, Wallace Van Allen, Dan and Sandi Wilson, Sandra Jackson and Bill Hatch; stepsiblings Ted Stuhlmiller, Elizabeth Stuhlmiller, Rebecca Stuhlmiller, Andy Stuhlmiller, Jack Walker, Kelly Guilfoil, Robin Guilfoil; and many nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins.
