Survived By: Survivors include his fiancee, Dana Flores; three sons, Michael and David Gilbert, both of Everett, and Patrick Gilbert of Caldwell, Idaho; two brothers, Lyle Gilbert of Spokane and Jody Spurgeon of Chewelah, Wash.; a sister, Ronna Thomas of Liberty Lake; his mother, Sharon Spurgeon of Spokane; and five grandchildren.

Lynn Duane Gilbert, 54, was born in Spokane, died June 2. He graduated from Ferris High School in 1966. He then joined the Army and served a tour of duty in Vietnam with the 173rd Airborne. He received a Purple Heart. Mr. Gilbert became a deputy with the Ferry County Sheriff's Department in 1974 and lived in Republic, Wash. In the mid-1980s he moved to Everett and began working in construction. Published on 9/27/2002
