With all due respect Nancy. Dave drowned at Haden lake while scuba diving with John Little (Ferris 1966). His regulator malfunctioned in 6 feet of water. I did hear that his mom did close up his room.
His dad did work at Deacons but at the time of Dave's death I believe he was the administrator at Rockwood Manor. Dave was a good friend.

Gary is correct. Dave and I were corresponding at the time of the accident. We were in homeroom together and he helped me get my first job which was at Rockwood Manor. We and his sister worked evenings together. We had many amusing stories about the residents. My ex husband worked for his dad at Deaconess. He was a dear friend. I still treasure his letters. The last one was about being in his sisters upcoming wedding. I would love to get in touch with her if anyone has her contact information.

Dave Baden and his family were beautiful people. Dave and I went to Adams grade school thru the eight grade, no junior high. When they started construction of the new high school next door, we knew we had one long year riding the bus down to Lewis/Clark( 9th grade). Mr Baden who worked at Deaconess at that time invited me along for a car pool ride in the morning, Dave, myself ( Gary Moss ), and Janet Konshuk (1966 ). I would bust out of my house every morning heading 5 blocks north to where the Badens lived (29th / Mt Vernon ) and I was grateful for every ride. I took the bus home in the afternoon, but the morning was a real treat. The old Lincoln Heights liumber company was right behind Daves house and as kids we spend hundreds of hours making forts and playing  hide /seek in those lumber piles. I spent alot of time with Daves family, and shared meals. At the time of his death I was working at the 76 Gas Station  on the southeast corner of 29th/Regal. The memory of the Baden family car coming into the staion to gas up, for their travels  to come, with Don Baden ( Daves younger brother) driving is something I can never forget.I greeted Don not expecting the worst, as he told me of Daves death I remember being at a complete loss, still having to gas and service the car. As Don drove away I knew the world had lost one beautiful person. Dave was one of a kind, we all miss him.

Nancy I am sure about the drowning especially with John Little. When his dad was at Rockwood and when at Deaconess not sure.

There was another classmate last name Bowen who died in VNam. If you go see the VNAM memorial at Riverfront Dave is not on it.

Just to confirm, I just was on the phone with Don Baden, Dave's younger brother. Dave was with John Little scuba diving when his equipment malfunctioned. He drown on May 27, 1967.  Very sad. We lost too many of our classmates too young!

Thanks Janet. Nancy didn't believe me but I remember the situation clearly. Not that Nancy doesn't believe me all the time, but I love her just the same.

Again, RIP Dave.

Did you make contact with his sister? Hope so.

Gary

Yes Nancy, I am a figment of your imagination. You are really still 18 and just graduated.

No problem. I just remember the situation so clearly because Dave was the first good friend to die and that I also knew John Little from elementary school.

The thing we all agree upon is Dave was too young to die and was a really special person to us all.
