Service for John W. Barton, 46, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Manito United Methodist Church. Private entombment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Berkeley, Calif., Mr. Barton died Tuesday.

He worked as a general contractor in home construction and had lived in Spokane for most of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Barton; two sons, Chris and Ryan Barton, both of Spokane; a stepson, Jerry Weaver of Coeur d'Alene; his mother, Betty Barton of Spokane; and a sister, Cindy Berkers of Spokane.

I grew up across the street from the Bartons and went all thru school with John. His older brother Bill, who went to LC was first person I know killed in Viet Nam probably about 1964 or 65. John had non hodgkins lymphoma (sp?) but not sure exactly what he died of but he should be remembered and put on this list. Steve Luby from Greenwood Memorial should have more info.
