Survived By: His wife died in 2001. Survivors include two sons, Bob and Mike Mikiska; his companion, Marcia, and her two daughters, Jenny and Laura; and four grandchildren.

Donald V.E. Mikiska, 59, who was born in San Jose, Calif., died Tuesday. He graduated from Whitworth College in 1967 with a degree in social studies and received his Master of Arts degree in teaching the following year. Mr. Mikiska taught in Washington for 31 years, the last 26 in Spokane, mostly at Ferris High School. While the wrestling coach in Othello, Wash., he was named Washington's Coach of the Year for AA schools in 1970. He led the school to a state championship in 1974. He married Christine Castle in 1975, and the couple made their home in Spokane. Mr. Mikiska enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and was involved at Fourth Memorial Bible Church.
