Survived By: Brian is survived by: his wife, Hilde; his son, Thomas (17); his daughters, Nichole (15) and Michelle (10); his brother Timothy (Billings, MT); sisters, Susan (Clarkston, WA), Sandra (Woodbridge, VA), Sharon (Payette, ID), and Shirley (Spokane, WA); along with many Aunts, Uncles, Brothers and Sisters-in-law, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews in the United States and Norway. Brian is preceded in death by: his Father (June 2005), his Mother (February 2005), his brothers, Thomas (March 2001), Robert (April 1993) and David, Jr. (1951).

BALLOU, Brian James Oslo, Norway Brian was born on April 24, 1962 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to David and Phyllis (Beck) Ballou. Brian graduated from Ferris High School, Spokane, WA in 1980 and then went on to attend the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID. He graduated from the U of I in 1986 with a degree in Mining Engineering. He studied abroad for one year in Melbourne, Australia. While traveling the country during a break from school, Brian met his wife, Hilde, who was on holiday from Norway. They were married in Oslo, Norway on June 27, 1987. Brian's mining career began in Idaho; then continued on to Nevada, Oregon and Montana before taking him and his family to Norway 10 years ago. He had recently accepted a new job with Nordic Mining ASA, a company based in Oslo. He died on September 10th while doing exploratory work for the company at a sight in north Norway. Brian had a gift of story telling and a wide variety of life experiences in his short life to draw those stories from. His repertoire of jokes was unmatched, as well as his enjoyment of conveying them. Brian, along with his smile and quick wit, will be greatly missed by family, friends and anyone who was lucky enough to have met him. Published on 9/16/2007
